Disaster recovery is the process by which an organization resumes business after a disruptive event.
That could mean a natural disaster (Greetings from Hurricane Alley!), it could be a man-made event (a massive power outage, for example), or it could be an IT-oriented episode (some of you may remember the Melissa virus, or NIMDA a few months later).

Business continuity is an approach to logistical planning that encompasses IT, as well as a wide variety of other business functions (sales, finance, operations, etc.).
It represents the development of a systematic strategy to “keep the doors open” no matter what might lurk around the corner.
